What is Encompass reporting?
Encompass reporting is how beverage suppliers analyze distributor data from Encompass, a distributor management platform used by many beer, wine, and beverage distributors. Suppliers use it to track depletions, inventory, and retail accounts for the distributors in their network that run on Encompass rather than VIP.
Why is Encompass reporting hard for suppliers?
Most brands do not have one distributor system. They have some distributors on VIP and some on Encompass, and each reports differently:
- Two data formats, with different field names and file layouts.
- Different item codes and account names for the same products and stores.
- Reports that come one distributor at a time, so a network view takes manual assembly.
- Depletions only, with no view of your shipments or retail scan alongside them.
Which Encompass reports matter most?
For a supplier, a small set of distributor reports carries most of the value:
- Depletions by account and item: what sold, where, and how it compares with last year.
- Inventory and days on hand: whether each distributor can cover the next few weeks of demand.
- Accounts and points of distribution: how many retail accounts carry each item, and whether that number is growing.
How do you combine Encompass and VIP data?
- Map both systems' item codes to one product list.
- Convert all volume to case equivalents so the two sources add up.
- Match accounts to the same chains and channels across both systems.
- Keep one distributor list, flagging which system each distributor uses.

Frequently asked questions
Can Shopra combine Encompass and VIP distributors?
Yes. That is the normal case. Both sources flow into one harmonized model, so distributors on either system appear in the same reports with the same products, units, and chains.
Do my distributors need to change anything?
No. Shopra works from the data your distributors already share. You choose the connections and approve access.
What are points of distribution (PODs)?
A point of distribution is one item carried at one retail account. Counting PODs shows how widely a product is distributed and whether that distribution is growing or shrinking.
Where does our data live?
Shopra hosts it securely, with role-based access controls. On the Enterprise plan, it can run in a dedicated Google Cloud warehouse your organization owns, with direct query access.
